WHY CHOOSE NATURE’S CLASSROOM? This is more than just a field trip. A trip to Nature’s Classroom is the opportunity to unplug from technology and plug into something more meaningful.
Students attending the overnight program will gain independence and self-confidence that comes with spending time away from home. Students will also learn priceless leadership, social, and critical thinking skills from our outstanding outdoor educators.
Here what students have to say about Nature’s Classroom:
“I learned that meeting new people isn’t so bad. You learn their stories and their past. I even made friends with people in my grade and I would have never seen that coming!” - Molly (Student) 2019
“Before I came here, I was pretty shy and I kept my mouth closed, but during a team-building exercise where I had to lead the group with a girl I had never met, things changed. At first, I was worried and out of my comfort zone, but then I learned it was ok to take chances and meet new people....and the girl who I was working with is now my good friend!” - Lauren (7th grader) 2019
“What I learned is that if you don’t have your phone, it can be ok.” Sophia (6th grader) 2019
OUR PROGRAM Our lessons are standards-aligned and each program is customized to support student learning in the classroom. The hands-on lessons focus on building critical thinking skills and exploring the connections between the natural and human-made world.
In the evenings, the Nature’s Classroom program offers very popular activities. The Science Fair is a series of demonstrations and experiments designed to capture the student’s attention while also providing lessons on the scientific method. Our Night Experience activity gives students the opportunity to be outside at night with their field instructor, a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
HANDS-ON SCIENCE We offer a broad range of science classes at Nature’s Classroom, that can peak the interest of any student. Whether it’s building a structure in an engineering class, dissecting an animal, or playing a game to supplement a lesson, the classes allow students to learn in different ways.
With less lecture time and more time engaged in hands-on activities, the students are able to make better connections with themselves and the lessons.
